ART DIARY ...day 2

This is a Wall in one of the Starbucks places, located on the corner of Wells st. and North st. While I was sitting there, I looked at that wall....I thought that is a good example of art around. The wall made me think about art and talented people whose ideas decorated not only museums and art studios, but everything around us.

trip to The Art Institute
"The Boulevard des Capucines", 1873Claude Monet
The trip to The Art Institute of Chicago was interesting and animated. I felt as I plunged into a world of high culture and art. In general about Munch's exhibit I can say his creative work reproduces kind of melancholy, with notes of sadness, depression sometimes. But also it brings in his creation his own style of vision of things and life. The artist works in so many different styles, such as movements of bodies, landscapes, screams, and many others.
Also I enjoyed paintings by Van Gogh, George Clausen and Claude Monet and his "The Boulevard des Capucines", 1873, which is my favorite. The master portrayed a panoramic view from a window on Paris' boulevard with mass of people. You can't see the details, just express of feelings on view of Parisian life in winter day. This painting always remind me an one small part of my native city.
For our team project we chose a great painting "Waterloo Bridge" also made by Monet in 1900. The artist represents to us a London's bridge in early foggy morning. The master uses grey-blue colors, exactly reflecting London's weather. The project was animated. It helps to see more details and technical subtleties of artists and understand paintings deeply and correctly.
life of an artist
"Girl with a Pearl Earring", 1665
a movie "Girl with a pearl earring" is about a famous painter of 17th century Johannes Vermeer and a history about his work "The girl with a pearl earring". On this picture is a girl Grete which the artist hired to work in his house. She was from a poor family and worked very hard to get little bit money for her parents. The work in Vermeer's house was not easy, especially after the artist's decision to portray Grete. Vermeer's wife Katarina was very jealous her husband to the young pretty servant. She sent Grete away after she knew that Grete borrowed Katarina's favorite pearl earrings for the portrait.
The painting became very famous after Johannes' death.
I very liked this movie and I can recommend it to everyone who like drama and biography movie. During watching I felt as if I moved in Holland at that time. From this movie I also learned a peace of history of 17th century, how people used to live, with what principles and wishes.
